- Treatment of varicose dermatitis
Varicose dermatitis develops as a result of circulatory disorders in the lower extremities, which leads to metabolic disturbances and deterioration of the nutrition of the skin. In severe cases, the disease is accompanied by the formation of trophic ulcers and cutaneous sclerosis.

Causes
The main reason for the development of varicose dermatitis is chronic venous insufficiency, which most often has a hereditary nature, expressed by the weak structure of the circulatory system and vascular valves.
The provoking factors of the disease include:
- overweight;
- complications after difficult childbirth;
- engaging in professional activities related to long-term stay on the feet;
- edema resulting from the fact that venous blood flow is impaired;

- nervous strain;
- stressful situations;
- poor environmental conditions;
- increased allergic sensitivity, etc.
As a result of the progressive form of the disease, further disturbances in the work of the vessels in the legs are observed. In addition, varicose dermatitis, which is often called stagnant, can be divided into several forms, depending on the causes of the disease. However, despite the characteristic factors of dermatitis, there is no definitive conclusion about what exactly caused congestive dermatitis. Many dermatologists agree that the symptoms of the disease are the result of immune disorders in the body.
Symptoms
As a rule, dermatitis of the lower extremities is primarily manifested by edema, changes in the condition of the skin and the appearance of severe trophic ulcerations. However, the root cause is a violation of the vascular conduction of the veins of the lower extremities.
Congestive dermatitis is accompanied by the following characteristic features:
- constant itching of the lower extremities;
- increased dryness of the skin;
- the appearance of hyperemic rashes in the form of scales.

To clarify the diagnostic picture, it is necessary to pay attention to additional symptoms, among which the most clearly stand out:
- exudative discharge from trophic ulcers;
- scratched areas may be covered with a scab;
- the appearance of a hyperemic seal at the site of localization of the rash (sometimes it is hot to the touch, which indicates an inflammatory process).

Rarely enough, symptoms of the disease can appear not only on the limbs, but also on the face, groin and neck. However, such symptoms, with manifestations on the face, can be found only in childhood. In adult patients, the symptoms of the disease are most often localized in the lower extremities, and in rare cases, which is an exception, they may spread to the chest area.
Congestive dermatitis, as a rule, begins its development from the ankles, gradually affecting the lower leg, which causes a number of inconveniences to the patient. In addition, dermatitis can be complicated by secondary infection through open ulcers. In this case, the general condition of the patient and the nervous system deteriorate, which requires compulsory drug therapy with specific drugs.
Treatment of varicose dermatitis
Varicose dermatitis of the lower extremities is recommended to be treated immediately at the first manifestations of this disease. In addition to aesthetic discomfort, complicated forms of the disease can cause significant harm to the body as a whole.
The main way to treat varicose dermatitis is to control the causes, as a result which developed symptoms of the disease, therefore, first of all, the cause of the negative symptoms. The disease should be treated according to an individual scheme, based on the severity of the symptoms:
- to increase the tone of the veins, they are used as well-known means (Venoruton, Eskuzan, Troxevasin, Anavenol, etc.), as well as new generation ointments, which include Detralex, Cyclo-3-Fort, Endothelon and etc.

- as a vasoconstrictor, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory and antipruritic agent, glucocorticosteroid ointments (Laticord, Hydrocortisone, Flucinar) are actively used. It is recommended to apply the ointment at least 3 times every 24 hours. Indications for the use of the ointment are a complicated course of dermatitis and the appearance of venous eczema. However, it should be borne in mind that these funds are intended only for external use and should not get on an open wound surface;
- with complicated congestive dermatitis, accompanied by tissue necrosis and exudation, water-soluble ointments are prescribed (Levomikol, Levosin, Dioxisol, etc.). They have antibacterial activity;

- treatment of varicose dermatitis can be carried out using compression therapy, which includes the use of special fixing stockings and tights, which allows you to soften the fibrous tissue, maximizing outflow of lymph. In addition, a special carbohydrate-restricted diet is recommended. Such a diet, in combination with drug therapy, allows you to keep your weight normal, reducing the load on your legs.
With the ineffectiveness of the therapy and the inability to relieve the acute symptoms of dermatitis, surgery is indicated. Before the operation, it is recommended to carry out a mandatory diagnostic and laboratory examination of the patient. This will allow you to assess the possible risks and make a final decision.
Traditional methods of treating varicose dermatitis
In addition to drug therapy, folk methods of getting rid of varicose dermatitis have found active use. Such methods of treatment are quite diverse, but there is one method that has been known for a long time - this is hirudotherapy (treatment with leeches). The saliva of these annelids has the ability to dissolve blood clots while simultaneously relieving pain and restoring lymphatic drainage.
No less well-known folk recipes for relieving negative symptoms are:
- Healing tincture made from Kalanchoe - for cooking, you need to take chopped leaves of fresh Kalanchoe, pour them into 0.5 liters. bottle almost to the very top and fill the mass in the bottle with 40% alcohol or vodka. The product must be infused for 7 days in a dark, cool place, after which it is mixed, filtered and used as a rubbing for the feet.
