The use of Lamisil in one form or another depends entirely on the stage of mycosis. If we are talking about the onset of the disease, local preparations will help to cope with the pathological process. In the case of an advanced or chronic infection, it is recommended to use systemic and external antifungal agents in combination.

pharmachologic effect

Lamisil belongs to a group of modern drugs that are used to treat mycosis of the skin and nails on the hands and feet. It is effective against all known types of pathogens of these diseases, namely, strains of yeast, dimorphic, mold and dermatophytes.

Any form of Lamisil works quickly. The active components of the drug penetrate into the thickness of the skin or nails to the required depth, providing a simultaneous fungicidal and fungistatic effect. This means that in small concentrations, the drug inhibits and stops the growth and development of pathogenic microflora, and in high concentrations, it kills it in full.

This result is achieved by disrupting the synthesis of stearins, which causes the death of the fungus.

Indications

Lamisil is active against the following diseases:

  • dermatomycosis and epidermophytosis - fungal skin lesions, mainly in the feet, groin and armpits;
  • onychomycosis - the infection affects the nail plates, spreading to the interdigital spaces;
  • fungus of the scalp;
  • candidiasis of the dermis and mucous membranes.

The wide degree of influence of the drug and the variety of its pharmacological forms make the remedy effective and convenient, and therefore universal, in the fight against various types of mycoses.

Instructions for use

In the manual for all forms of the drug there is a detailed description of the use of each of them. We propose to consider general recommendations for their use.

Lamisil tablets. They are prescribed to get rid of advanced forms of mycosis, in particular, nail fungus. The drug is prescribed in daily dosages, which depend on the age and body weight of the patient:

  • adults and adolescents over 12 years old - 250 mg or 1 tab. 1 time per day after meals;
  • children in the weight category 20-40 kg - ½ tab .;
  • babies less than 20 kg - ¼ tab.

If the child's weight does not reach 12 kg, the oral form of Lamisil is not prescribed.

The duration of the therapeutic effect depends on the localization of the pathological process:

  • systemic fight against onychomycosis - from 1.5 to 6 months;
  • foot fungus - 2–6 weeks;
  • mycosis of the body and hair - 14–28 days.

Lamisil Uno solution. Helps in the fight against mycotic infections of the feet. The drug is applied to lesions, previously cleaned and steamed, using a tampon soaked in the drug. It is recommended to start the treatment from the interdigital spaces, ending with the surface of the soles of the feet with the capture of healthy areas of the dermis by 1.5 cm.

After application, it is necessary to wait until the solution is completely absorbed, and the skin dries up, while on it you can find a protective film into which the medication has been transformed. Once this happens, you need to put on your cotton socks for the next 24 hours.

After the specified period of time, the feet must be washed with a sufficient amount of running water and soap. Both legs should be treated, even if the lesion is fixed on only one.

Cream, ointment Lamisil from bending nails. The drug is prescribed for onychomycosis, as well as for fungal skin infections.

To combat onychomycosis, the agent is recommended to be applied to the lesions once a day for 4–6 months.

Lamisil cream

As for mycotic skin infection, here the course of treatment is much shorter - with a single use of the product, it will take only 1-2 weeks. This is due to the fact that it is customary to fight against nail fungus much longer.

Gel Lamisil. The drug is prescribed for the treatment of mycosis, localized on the surface of the scalp and body, mainly in the area of natural folds - groin and armpits.

Gel Lamisil is prescribed in a course of 7 days with a single treatment of foci of infection per day.

Spray. Convenient form of release for the treatment of fungal skin diseases.

The product is applied by spraying to previously cleaned and fat-free areas of the body, once a day. The recommended course of therapy with Lamisil spray is 7 days.

Important! To achieve the maximum effect, before starting treatment, you should consult a doctor who will select the required form of release of the medication and the scheme of its action on an individual basis.

Use in children, pregnant and lactating

It is undesirable to take the drug in the form of tablets in children under the age of two or until the baby reaches a body weight of 12 kg. Topical terbinafine-based remedies are contraindicated up to 12 years of age.

During pregnancy and lactation, Lamisil is prescribed on the condition that the expected therapeutic benefit for the woman is higher than the possible risk for the child. In any case, the agent is prescribed with caution.

Side effects

Lamisil has a proven good tolerance, characterized by a minimal risk of developing adverse reactions from the body.

Consider what side effects do occur when using it in a small table.

Systems Possible negative reactions
Hematopoietic Thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and pancytopenia.
IMMUNE Allergy in the form of anaphylaxis with a tendency to edematous syndrome.
NERVOUS Disorders of taste and appetite, headaches.
DIGESTIVE Flatulence, nausea, diarrhea, or, conversely, constipation.
LEATHER Rashes, exacerbation of psoriasis, less often hair loss.
BONE-MUSCULAR Painful sensations in joints and muscles, fatigue.
LIVER AND GALL BLADDER Disorders of the hepatobiliary system associated with relapses of existing chronic diseases of these organs.

There is also information about an overdose of Lamisil. In case of an erroneous or deliberate increase in the amount of the drug taken (we are talking about its oral form), there is nausea and vomiting, severe headache, discomfort in the epigastric zone - in the area of the digestive organs path. In such cases, symptomatic therapy is recommended.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, treatment with Lamisil is contraindicated in the following conditions:

  • diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
  • tendency to allergic reactions;
  • metabolic disorders;
  • oncology;
  • kidney and liver problems;
  • alcohol addiction;
  • dysfunction of the hematopoietic organs;
  • individual intolerance to terbinafine and the constituents of the form of the drug used.

I would also like to note that Lamisil tablets are prohibited for children under 2 years of age, and local remedies - up to 12 years.

Analogs

The drug has a sufficient number of substitute medications. Let's consider them in more detail.

  • Lotseril. Antifungal varnish that has proven itself in the fight against onychomycosis. It is based on the substance amorolfine, which deliberately destroys dozens of pathogens. You can buy an analogue of Lamisil at a price of 1300 rubles for 2.5 ml in Russia and 900 hryvnia in Ukraine.
  • Terbinafine. A structural substitute for the drug under consideration by the active ingredient. Available in the form of tablets, spray and ointment. Fights most pathogenic microorganisms. Has a cheap cost compared to Lamisil: from 140 rubles in Russia and 75 hryvnia in Ukraine.
  • Binafin. Effectively copes with mycoses of the skin and nails. Available in pill and cream form. As in the previous case, it is a structural analogue of Lamisil due to the content of the same main component. The cost of the drug is from 300 rubles in Russia and 120 hryvnia in Ukraine.

What is better Lamisil or Exoderil?

To eradicate fungal infections, the pharmaceutical industry has created many medicines. You can often come across a comparison of the most effective of them, for example, Lamisil and Exoderil. Undoubtedly, these medicines have common features, but the main thing distinguishes them - the structural composition or the content of the active component.

Lamisil is based on terbinafine. This substance destroys the structure of the fungal flora, preventing its reproduction and growth, which provokes further death of the pathogenic population.

Exoderil contains naftifine, a component that has a complex effect on infection: fungicidal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. This means that in addition to fighting the fungus, the drug destroys other pathogenic microorganisms and relieves the symptoms of irritation, itching and redness.

Moreover, both medicines have a proven quick healing effect, have approximately the same cost and a variety of pharmacological forms of release, which makes them not only effective, but also comfortable in application.

Therefore, it is rather difficult to answer for sure what will be better from a fungal infection - Lamisil or Exoderil. Both drugs are really good for practical use, so the choice is best left to a specialist.
